On Sep 4th 2015, Prof. Tomohiro Shibata received a 2015 JNNS Best Paper Award. JNNS (Japanese Neural Network Society) is a leading society of neuroscience and engineering in Japan along with the Japan Neuroscience Society and the Japanese Society for Neurochemistry. Every year, two papers are selected from all of the papers published by JNNS members in the previous year.
This paper suggests that a robotic trainer can facilitate novices’ motor skill learning for dart-throwing with a user-adaptive assistance employing the assist-as-needed principle in order to prevent reliance on the assistance. The proposed framework could be applied not only for sports training but also rehabilitation.
