What's VPN?

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a method of constructing a virtual network between remote sites through the Internet network as if they were on the same LAN. In particular, a connection between a base and a client PC is called a remote access VPN.
Normally, access to Garoon, the university-wide groupware for faculty and staff, ftp access for www server at Wakamatsu campus, and workstations in laboratories is not possible from the Internet side due to security reasons.
By using a VPN, you can access these resources from home or on a business trip via the Internet; the VPN terminal has a virtual IP interface and provides a network environment equivalent to the campus intranet.
