East Asian Student Exchange Program on
Ecological and Life Technologies
 
Outline
The LSSE (Graduate School of Life Science and Systems Engineering) of Kyutech (Kyushu Institute of Technology) is implementing the JENESYS (Japan - East Asia Network of Exchange for Students & Youths) program that is supported by JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization). The aim of the program is to encourage students from East Asian countries to study advanced technologies in the fields of energy saving and environment conservation as well as to promote global interaction between Japanese and Asian students for the sustainable development in eastern countries. The program consists of research studies on the advanced environment technologies or eco-fitting technologies such as biomass utilization, garbage recycling, environmental purification, environment monitoring, organic solar cells, etc.

Eligibility for Intended Participants
  1. Student nationality: To be eligible for participation, students should hold one of the following nationalities: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore,Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, India, or New Zealand.
  2. Student status: In principle, students should be formally enrolled as undergraduates or graduate students (Master's or Ph.D. program) at a university lacated in one of the countries listed in item (1) above.
  3. Other criteria: To be eligible for participation, a student may not have previously been in receipt of a Japanese government scholarship to study in Japan.
 
Funding Support
Students who are accepted for participation in the program shall receive the following support:
  1. Scholarship: 130,000 Yen per month (fixed sum)
  2. Funds to relocation including round-trip airfare and preparation of trip to Japan: 260,000 Yen (fixed sum)
 
Schedule
Two semesters (the first 3-10 months and the second 3-6 months) would be offered, and intensive lectures, study tour on local Environmental Bureau of Kitakyushu City, and progress report would be conducted in September (during overlap period of two semesters). Those who involved in this program are invited to final presentation, and it will be open to public.
